UnityPoint Health Human Resources Coordinator in Peoria, Illinois

The Methodist College HR Coordinator performs duties at the professional level in functional areas of human resources including but not limited to recruitment, employment, training, and payroll processing.

  1. Coordinate the recruitment efforts for vacant positions, providing high level customer service by partnering with departments and coordinating employment activities with attention to detail.

  2. Recruit and hire a qualified and diverse workforce.

  3. Assure that applications are reviewed in a timely manner.

  4. Interview and screen for the most qualified candidates.

  5. Assure specific criteria for each position is met.

  6. Identify appropriate advertisement media and develop ads for vacancies.

  7. Train hiring managers and search committees on appropriate hiring practices including the development of effective interview questions and techniques.

  8. Ensure that employment hiring practices are consistent with nondiscrimination philosophy and without regards for unjust discriminatory factors.

  9. Ensure the appropriate references are obtained as well as background checks, new hire paperwork, licensure, CPR, transcripts, etc.

  10. Conduct new employee orientation and ensure that onboarding requirements are completed in a timely manner.

  11. Assists with employee relations issues by taking complaints and referring to Human Resources Manager and Senior Leadership Team/Executive Leadership Team members.

  12. Complete payroll processing duties.

  13. Assist with the development of employment contracts, agreements, letters and memos.

  14. Participate in community events such as career fairs.

  15. Effectively utilize the human resource information system and compile reports from the database as needed.

  16. Serve as a member of the Social Committee and assist with facilitating various employee activities.

  17. Track employee compliance of annual required trainings and conduct follow-up as needed.

  18. Provide HR office support including scanning and filing.

  19. Understand the pertinence of confidentiality, and shows courtesy, effectiveness and discretion when dealing with all matters.

  20. Demonstrate effective problem-solving skills to make appropriate decisions for a positive customer outcome.

  21. Complete work in an accurate, timely, and organized manner.

  22. Demonstrate knowledge of the current computer systems and software applications utilized in Human Resources and a willingness to expand knowledge on software applications.

  23. Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite.

  24. Perform other duties as assigned.


Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or other related field required.


Two to three years’ experience in Human Resources is required. Experience in higher education is a plus.
