We currently have an immediate opening for a Calibration Metrology Technician Senior.
Develops, evaluates and repairs calibration systems that measure characteristics of objects, substances, or phenomena.
Inspects, tests and calibrates controlling, indicating, and measuring instruments and devices to ensure specified operating performance. Performs complex repair and calibration of test equipment.
Prepares calibration documentation in accordance with standards.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following duties, which represent a minimum of 20% of the employees time. Other site or department specific duties may be assigned by the manager on a job design form)
Travels to customer site for calibration, repair, and technical support when necessary.
Reads quality control manual and testing specifications to obtain data to test or calibrate specific devices.Evaluates calibration/repair jobs.Sets controls to regulate factors and activates test or calibration equipment.Observes readings and performance of device or instrument to identify functional defects and determine calibration requirements.Adjusts calibration mechanisms to obtain specified operational performance.Applies sealing compound on calibration mechanism to prevent readjustment of settings and loss of calibration.Rejects malfunctioning devices and repairs or routes devices to specified department for rework or salvaging of parts.Prepares calibration certificates and data reports.Redesigns or adjusts measurement capability to minimize errors.May disassemble to determine cause of defective operation.Selects and installs accessories.
Processes required service report paperwork, including database maintenance.
Locates and creates calibration procedures as necessary.
Assists in developing new product capabilities and standards.
Manages repair/calibration testing projects to insure completion by targeted completion date.
Provides training and guidance as necessary.
Develops calibration methods and techniques based on principles of measurement science, technical analysis of measurement problems, and accuracy and precision requirements.
Directs engineering, quality, and laboratory personnel in design, manufacture, evaluation, and calibration of measurement standards, instruments, and test systems to ensure selection of approved instrumentation.
Advises others on methods of resolving measurement problems and exchanges information with other metrology personnel through participation in government and industrial standardization committees and professional societies.
This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
May orient, train, assign and check the work of lower level employees.

Bachelors degree from a four year college university; and ten years related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Specific calibration and metrology training as provided in a technical school/junior college or military curriculum.
