Caterpillar’s Material Handling an Underground division is currently seeking a Factory Manager at its East Peoria, IL facility. In this role, you will manage a facility on an enterprise basis, focused on profitability and return on assets.

Job Duties/Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

\

  • Managing factory operations that may involving any or all of the following manufacturing, assembly, machining, maintenance, fabrications/welding, heat treat, packaging, painting, testing, tooling, scheduling, manufacturing engineering, quality, packaging, warehousing, shipping and receiving.

\

  • Provides direction to supervisors of these areas in a manner to ensure efficient operations.

\

  • Manages in accordance with established objectives for efficiency, cost, safety, quality, quantity, timeliness and human resources objectives.

\

  • Accountable to ensure the efficient, on-schedule machining and assembly of parts, components and

prime product.

\

  • Ensuring control of indirect and direct performance, spoilage, perishable tools and rework

\

  • Controlling overtime for economical factory operation.

\

  • Ensuring factory operations are on schedule to meet dates for introduction of new models and engineering changes.

\

  • Contributing to planning and scheduling operations for maximum efficiency.

\

  • Developing operational strategies and execution plans to reduce inventories, reduce variable cost, improve

availability, improve quality and improve employee satisfaction and performance.

\

  • Ensure maximum utilization of critical assets and effective operation to meet production schedules.

\

  • Understanding the problems being faced in production and resolve them through innovation and involvement.

\

  • Proposing changes or improvements in production methods, processes and in the introduction of new products.

\

  • Provide guidance for future manufacturing technology implementation.

\

  • Involvement in the S&OP (Sales & Operations Planning) process to ensure the plant meets its

commitments.

\

  • Responsible for various corporate initiatives such as CPS Assessment, 6 Sigma, MQ12005, International

\

  • Standards Organization (ISO), and Sarbanes Oxley (SOX) implementation at the operational level.

\

  • Manage within the overall Operations budget as defined in the Annual Business Plan (ABP).

\

  • Managing a department through subordinate supervisors/managers and professionals.

\

  • Proving direction, focus, motivation, and encouragement for facility employees.

\

  • Responsibility for all personnel issues and performance evaluation of subordinates.

\

  • You will be challenged to quickly and correctly identify problems which may not be obvious.

\

  • You will solve problems by determining the best course of action, within departmental guidelines, from many existing solutions.

\

  • You will set priorities and establishes a work plan in order to complete broadly defined assignments and achieve desired results. Impacts key quality goals including Customer Satisfaction, Continuous Improvement, Timeliness, Accuracy, Efficiency, Cost Savings, Process Quality, Part Quality, ISO 9000 Certification, etc. The position monitors and reports on key quality measures for the measure(s) stated.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

\

  • Requires a college degree, preferably in Manufacturing or Engineering related field of study

\

  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing Principles, and lean tools such as TPS, Kaizen, Six Sigma, or 5S

\

  • 8 years of progressively responsible Manufacturing and or Engineering experience

\

  • Prior Leadership experience in a Manufacturing Environment

Top Candidates will also have:

\

  • Working knowledge of Caterpillar and Corporate security functional areas, policies and procedures

\

  • Demonstrated ability to drive Lean transformation in manufacturing operations

\

  • Should have a technical understanding of the manufacturing and material selection process

\

  • Needs good management, motivational and problem solving skills along with good human relations and communications skills
