This position reports to the Executive Director of Public Relations.
The Public Relations Specialist will assist in all aspects of PR pertaining to Bradley University. The Specialist will nurture current relationships, increase awareness, and enhance the University's image by developing and executing effective communication and media relations strategies.
This position will assist with general media relations, community relations, crisis communications, and internal communications. He/she will assist with planning publicity strategies and campaigns, write and produce presentations and press releases, and handle inquiries from the public, the press, and related organizations. He/she will act as a liaison between Bradley and its many audiences while establishing and maintaining good-natured, cooperative relationships with the news media, faculty, staff, local communities and other public interest groups. A bachelor's degree with coursework in journalism, communications, public relations or a related course of study or a bachelor's degree (with a different major) plus five years of experience in a related field. Additional requirements include knowledge of media relations and public relations practices and principles; advanced news writing abilities; outstanding interpersonal and verbal communication and presentation skills; effective organization and time management skills; skills in special event and project management.
Video production and editing knowledge; Adobe Suite knowledge; supervisory experience; national media outreach experience; speech writing; understanding of social media content development, management and analytics; database management; and media monitoring and analytics experience helpful.
