Sales and Operations Planning (S&OP) is our monthly demand planning intake and forecasting process. The R and SQL assistance we are pursuing relates specifically to this area. The data that goes into this S&OP process is effectively orders on hand, net orders received, actual shipments, inventory and forecasted shipments, etc. The data feeds in from a mix of SAP BW, Engine Forecast Information Center (EFIC) DB2 tables, Excel spreadsheet and in some cases manual. In order to create a "statistically reportable" combined data set, the current S&OP process moves all this data into a local SQL datamart here with the local team. The data is then combined and transformed to be reportable onto S&OP business discussion charts, as well as some statistical formulas are applied to the queries to generate views of forecast accuracy, forecast bias (is someone always trending either high or low on their forecast inputs?), and a statistically generated potential forecast. This position primarily supports 1) load and organize the data within SQL, and secondarily supports 2) utilize R to apply formulas to create forecast measures and reportable dataset derivatives. We do not anticipate this person to be a commercial and functional data expert. The data understanding, interpretation and coaching will come from the local team here. The incumbent would need enough communication skill and commercial expertise to be able to follow the data / business process conversation as needed and help make the translation from functional to technical. We are looking for very strong SQL experience and ability to load and structure data. Programming statistical interpretations in R is also an expectation although secondary to the strong SQL skills. While this position will not be directly involved in reporting the incumbent will need to interact interact with the reporting team to understand what data structure is require to deliver the report output use case. Critical skill requirements as follows: -Good communication skills to support translation of commercial data and reporting discussions into data structure requirements -Excellent SQL data structuring and query skills (clear first priority) -Highly proficient in R application of formulaic and statistical data processing (secondary priority but also important) -Reasonable understanding of data load processes from varying structures and technologies -Flexibility in working with a varied team

Position's Contributions to Work Group

This position directly supports commercial process and business management teams in the assembly, reporting, analysis and decision making within engine forecasting and transactional data analysis.

Typical Day

A typical day is in the 8 am to 5 pm range and involves participating in commercial process, data definition and data acquisition conversations; translating functional requirements into technical design and developing / implementing data and query solutions; working with reporting teams to ensure data structures conform to reporting requirements.

Technical Skills

-Excellent SQL data structuring and query skills -Highly proficient in R application of formulaic and statistical data processing (secondary priority but also important) -Reasonable understanding of data load processes from varying structures and technologies -Demonstrated results experience in SQL and R data structuring and querying
