Caterpillar, Inc. Performance / Simulation / Application Engineer / Sr Engineer - Drivetrain Structure in Mossville, Illinois
Caterpillar’s Innovation and TechnologyDevelopment Division is currently seeking an Engineer/Senior Engineer at its Tech Center Facility located in Mossville, IL. In this role you will leverage VPD tools and partner with the test and design teams to contribute to the drivetrain NPI programs and CPI solutions. You will manage the planning and delivery of projects, continually learn and stay abreast of innovative technology, mentor and coach enterprise team members, and deepen your professional network.
Job Duties/Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
Proactively communicate with the drivetrain process partners to understand the project background and requirements
Provide technical leadership for the effective and efficient solutions.
Coordinate the internal and external global teams to deliver the projects within budgets and on schedules
Perform analyses on the complex projects.
Review the test data and use them as the inputs to the VPD models and correlate the simulate results with test data.
Request the tests and partner with the test team to obtain the data for the model inputs and validations
Report clearly the data based conclusions, actionable recommendations and solutions, to the test and drivetrain process partners.
Contribute to the Standard Simulation Procedures (SSP) and Simulation Best Practices (SBP) to effectively and efficiently help concept selections and validate designs virtually with high confidences
Master degree in mechanical engineering or other engineering field
1 years of experiences in the structure, thermal, and material simulation, validation, and simulation & test integration
Experienced on nonlinear material and large deformation, contact/impact, dynamics, and thermal mechanical FEA analysis using ABAQUS or ANSYS
Experienced on nonlinear bolted joint and fatigue life analysisExperience with Creo and FEA pre/post process software, such as Hyperwork, NX, and Simlab
_Top Candidates will also have:_
MS or PhD degree in mechanical engineering or other engineering field
Strong background in structural simulation, testing, and correlation of machine and drivetrain components and systems.
Proven proficiency in engine and machine components and structure system simulations, including statics, dynamics, forced responses, thermo-mechanical, bolted joint, fatigue life analysis, welded structures, and nonmetallic structures, etc
Extensive experiences in the multibody dynamics simulation using DYNASTY, TOMAHAWK / TOMSIM, LMS Virtual Lab/Motion, LS-DYNA, NASTRAN, ABAQUS, ANSYS
In depth knowledge of the drivetrain structures.

Demonstrated excellence in collaboration and engagement with the customers and process partners
Demonstrated strong problem solving skills for NPI and CPI issues, and simulation technique issues
