The Role : Xylem seeks a Mechanical Engineer IV to perform research, design, and development in such areas as mechanical, thermal, hydraulic, thermodynamic, or heat transfer for production, transmission, measurement, and use of energy. The Mechanical Engineer IV will also define planning and methodologies to the planning, design, development, and testing of mechanical and/or electro-mechanical systems, instruments, controls, engines, and/or machines as they relate to centrifugal pumps.

Essential Functions:

  • Performs research, design, and development in such areas as mechanical, thermal, hydraulic, thermodynamic, or heat transfer for production, transmission, measurement, and use of energy related to centrifugal pumps

  • Develops technical solutions to complex problems which require the regular use of ingenuity and creativity

  • Plans and conducts assignments, generally involving the larger and more important projects or more than one project

  • Represents the organization as the technical contact on contracts and projects

  • Interacts with external personnel on technical matters often requiring coordination between organizations

  • Performs other duties as assigned

Minimum Requirements:

  • BS in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering or related discipline

  • Master’s degree and/or PE license a strong plus

  • 8-10+ years of industry experience, technical program and/or new product development experience

  • Demonstrated proficiency with 3D CAD systems

  • Experience with ProE/Creo a plus

  • NPD (new product development) experience with a stage gate process

  • Excellent communication skills both oral and written, ability to work effectively in a team environment, ability to work effectively on multiple projects

  • Develops solutions to complex problems which will require the regular use of ingenuity and innovation.

  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical customer issues by working with internal or external teams

  • Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office( Excel, Word, Access, Outlook)

  • Strong communication skills and customer services, effective communication between global regions and functions

  • Ensures solutions are consistent with organization objectives
